Bicycles. The best way to get around the city in the summer and the best way to make new friends. The good folks over at Hotel Arts and Kensington Riverside Inn have made it their personal mission to do exactly that for you. Whether you are traveling to Calgary from out of town or just planning a little inner-city staycation, when you stay at one of these properties you’ll not only have an amazing time in their luxurious suites and restaurants but you’ll also have the freedom via bicycle to explore the surrounding neighbourhoods a bit. The first of its kind in Calgary, the hotels’ bike program was introduced as a way to be involved in supporting eco-friendly lifestyle, as well as add to the many existing amenities that they have to offer.
Partnering up with Brooklyn Cruisers to bring you the best city cruisers in the world, Hotel Arts & KRI have outdone themselves with Chef’s Table branded boxes to tote your shopping finds around. Hotel Arts Group hand selected two of the most popular Brooklyn Cruiser models – the Driggs 3 and Willow 3 created for both men and women. Each bike has the signature cream colored tires and preconditioned leather saddle, and includes rear carrier racks.
We went on a little tour with their team from Kensington to the Beltline, making a couple stops along the way (like at our favourite spot – Village Ice Cream). When you take out a bike from the hotel, they have tons of great recommendations of where to stop and grab a coffee, an ice cream or a beer and can point you in the right direction. All bikes will be available to guests at no charge, and include helmets and bike locks so that guests can head out and explore the city in safety. A map of bike friendly pathways will also be available in all guest rooms at both Hotel Arts and Kensington Riverside Inn.
We were so inspired after the bike ride that we created a little Pedal Driven playlist for you that is perfect for summer afternoons and picnics. Listen here.
See you on the bike path!
